hallo
i want to drive rallycross it's a combination of rallying and crossing.
there i want to drive in the promo class it is a class were only 2.0 8v
so i thoughd why don't drive a 924!!
there are now limits in hp.
can some one help me what i can do to tune this car.
self i though about using two WEBER carbs instead off injecton
but where can i buy them? and wath do they cost.
but prehaps some one has a better idee
all information is welkom. |

Upgrade the suspension first with heavier springs and swaybars and also
new shocks. Then make sure the car is level. You can test this at the lower inside door jamb with a level. Use some competitive brake pads and try this first.
As for the carbs and cam you are looking at spending at least $1500 here in the US.

I'm with Vince on upgrading the suspension. I think you have the most to gain there in terms of performance.

| that is one option but i am racing aginst peugeot 1.9 gti . they are less havyer then the 924 and they have a better road contact. and they have the same bhp sow if you only adjust the suspension i think you will lose it because you are havyer!! is there alsow a sper differential availabel for the 924 , i know that it has a sper differential for 944 turbo. |

you wont loose...ofcourse this is up to the driver...the 924 corners better than any silly ass peugeot...dont forget its primary weapon... 50/50 weight distribution...then the speed might not be that high...but the 924 is a sport car man...its aerodynamics are better..it might be the cheapest porsche and old but its still a very good car...ofcourse you have to know how to take advantage of its power in a competition. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

To drop about 60-70 lbs: Take out the entire AC unit. This drops weight and less junk in the engine compartment. Once you remove the condenser in front of the radiator, you might even notice your car keep cool
The hood weighs 47 lbs. You can replace it with a fiberglass hood to get it down to 12 lbs. This really helps for working under the hood too!
Each seat weighs approx. 30 to 35 lbs. Replacement of both with racing style can make a significant difference.
When removing weight take note where you are removing it from. The 924 has nearly a 50/50 balance. Try and remove the same amount all around the car for better balance.
Different brands of brake fluid can be lighter than others. You may be able to save several pounds.
Replacement of the windows with lightweight fiberglass quarter windows and hatch.
Add European Front and rear bumpers to drop weight. This is good style of bumper and makes the car more attractive.
You can also modify euro bumpers to save additional weight.
One of our members here listed many things you can do to try and get rid of weight and also to gain horse power.

My wife has a 205GTi and we raced each other on a track when I first got my 924 (when it was still a stock, worn out old car with out sway bars etc). Her GTi was lowered with hard suspension and much beter tyres and yet the 924 was a couple of seconds a lap quicker, mainly due to a better top end. The GTi's are very low geared and go like stink up to about 100k, but die off after that. I drove the Peugeot that day as well, and it was MUCH better around the corners than the old 924, but just didn't have the legs on the straights.
Now that my car's properly set up it's quicker than the GTi through the corners (just) but it wouldn't hold a candle to it under 100kph, which is where you'd need it for rally cross I'd guess?? FWD will always give the GTi's more traction on gravel/ dirt too. Tune yours for maximum torgue, not hp and sort out the suspension first. _________________ Andrew

Remove as much weight as possible. Radio, pass seat, all the mats in the trunk area, spare tire and jack, clean out all the junk in the pockets and the glove compartment, remove the folding rear section which weighs about 20 lbs, make sure you only have 1/3 of a tank of gas, ea gal weighs about 8 lbs, empty the water in the windshield washer, go on a diet.
costly try Euro bumpers or cut the shocks on the car and weld them closed, remove the rubbers on the bumper they weigh 3 lbs ea. I suggest the latter if you can get your hands on extra bumpers and lighten them as mentioned. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"
