I have had a few people around here race me. I kill all hondas and that shit but its nothing to brag about . Me and my dad are currently trying to figure out what the guy did to it to give it such high compression. Seems to have a bit more HP than expected. plus its euro spec so helps a bit _________________ Go hard or go home |

I don't wanna state the obvious, you may already know... but just in case;
The Euro/RoW-spec cars had a good 30hp more than the Yank ones. Do you mean you reckon she's pushing more than 125hp? _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

Now Khal, let's be honest, the Euro spec had 30 more hp than the early North American 924 with smog pump (125 vs. 95). Compared to the later North American 924 it is only a 10 hp differential (125 vs. 115). Nevertheless, I have a set of Euro pistons ready to go into my rebuilt motor. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

Next time I'm doing engine rebiuld on NA, I'm putting 931 stock pistons in it. Seriously, just to see how much hp I could get with stock head and bolt on "go-fast" parts (TB, 931 intake manifold, 931 pistons etc...) _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Wouldn't 931 pistons really make things worse on a normally aspirated engine? The compression would be really low? _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

just wondering can a 5 litre mustang beat a 951 from stop too? |
Well, there is not much out there that can hang with a well setup 951. I'm talking like 475-500 crank HP on the stock shortblock. However, from a stop?? Our cars are transaxle cars, and very expensive when things break. Our cars just weren't built for hard launches. . . . _________________ 1987 951--Not Stock

Here is the thing guys. You are driving a PORSCHE, so people just assume it is both quick and fast. When they try to race you, and you just ignore them, and keep on driving at a normal rate, it just reinforces the image that they already have. Like racing whatever they are driving is not even worth your time. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo |

As I age, I am really getting into this whole Not racing thing. Street racing is just nuts. All you need is 1 cop car in the area and you can be toast! Spending the night in jail for going waay over the speed limit and maybe getting dinged with wreckless driving or hitting a guy going through an intersection on his bike, or a kid steping out between 2 cars. the "HOLY F**K! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN!" list is endless.
And if you clip a curb or the idiot beside you strikes you, think of the cost to repair the damage and the story you'll tell the police.
I swear I disn't know I was in 5th gear inside the 30 mph school zone! WTF dude!? Hand cuffs? Come on! My mom is going to kill me!
Seriously, knock it off, it isn't worth it! |

good statement. this is a bit off topic, but my friend and i were driving around one day, channeling through radio stations, and we couldnt find any music that was suitable, so ended up going classic rock. at which point my friend said, i think this is the time that we are growing too old for the new rock music coming out. we're past our prime. i feel old now! people born in 1990 are going to able to drive in wisconsin in less than a year! so long story short, im kind of shunning racing too. _________________ '81 924 n/a |

About an hour ago I saw a tiny old car with tinted windows and chrome wheels with a very very loud exhaust go by my house as I was pulling out.
And he can do whatever he likes with his car, I don't mind at all.
Well, I guess we took different paths to the highway because he blew by me and going into a firly tigh left hander, he got on the brakes and the wheel at the same time and I swear to you all, the left rear tire came off the ground as that car skidded totally straight. Luckily he wised up and got off the brakes in time to stay on the road but it proves my point. Racing car that aren't supposed to be raced, on city roads with a driver who doesn't have one track day under his belt is a nightmare! Only shear chance decides if someone goes off the road, or into a pole, or into their friend beside them etc....
It ain't worth gettin' killed for. |

I totally agree. Nothing works better than other peoples' imagination.
However, when the opportunity arises, I will blast past slower poeple just to keep the image up! _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)

since when do you have to be old to listen to classic rock?
all I listen to is classic rock. Led Zepplin, beatles, pink floyd, guess who, supertramp etc its the best music ever.
I don't really like any of the new rock and definately not rap. _________________ 78 924 sold.
