Hey guys, its me again.

Remember when I bought that door handle from Gohim? Well I went to go put it in and realized "Duh, i cant put it in if the door wont open" every walked through ive looked at had to have the door open in order to install the door handle. Let me tell u guys what its doing and maybe u can tell me how I can get this thing unstuck.

The latch that you sqeez on to open the door is depressed inward, making it flush with its housing. You can lock and unlock the door via the key, and the lock knob goes up and down (thats how I know u can do it) but from the inside the handle wont open the door. Even if its unlocked, you pull on the handle and it just feels like the door is locked (u dont feel that little click right before the mechanism opens the door). I played with the lock mechanism, with both handles, jiggled the key, but i cant seem to get this dang door open. Can someone help please? Thanks alot

Rick

I would take apart the inside handle. Behind the handle there is a plastic cup that just snaps in. If you pry it out you will have access to the screw that holds the handle in place. Remove the screw and handle. There should be a hole in the handle with a looped end of a cable though it. That cable when pulled unlatches the door.

If this does not work you will have to remove the door panel to operate the mechanism manually. This will be near imposable with the door closed unless you remove the seat and the dash. There is a screw behind what the dash covers when the door is closed.

If that still doesn’t work, unfortunately everything needed to take it apart is between the door and post when closed. Take out the window and make a race car.

At least that is how I recall the assembly.
Anyone is welcome to correct me if I’m wrong.

I was thinking about your problem, and I think you may be able to access the door latch linkage from the door lock knob hole, if you unscrew the door lock knob and remove it.

That would give you a small hole into which you could pass a small light so you could see and manipulate both the door lock linkage rod, and the door latch release linkage rod to open the door.

Is it possibly that the problem is not in the door handle, but down in the door latch?

Using the door lock knob hole as an access, you should be able to see down into the door, and reach in with a wire clothes hanger to push the tink to the door handle relase around, or hook under it to pull it up.

When the door handle breaks, it is usually the toggle link and the outside part can remain depressed. Maybe the handle got broken, while trying to force a stuck or broken door latch open...

The door latch is released by a downward motion from the outside door handle. I don't know if you can get enough force onto the linkage with the ball end (where the outside door handle connects to the latch release linkage) with a clothes hanger. You could probably get enough force with a good stiff/strong small diameter slot blade screwdriver if the door latch is not the actual problem.

If the door latch is what is actually broken, I would guess that you are going to have to sacrifice the interior door panel to create an access point to release the broken door latch. At least the inside door panel can be replaced relatively cheaply compared to destroying the outside door panel.
