im currently selling these on an auction site here in nz, noting the damage but someone i was talking to said something about them being unbalanced and causing vibration becos of the chunk gone, is there any truth to this? if so, im not going to risk someones life and will pull the auction.

I'd also be concerned of the legalities and liabilities of selling damaged brake parts. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

This is exaggeration, you won't feel it at all. i had few chunks of that edge too couple of years ago, nothing happened. of course, it's better if these chunks wouldn't come off but it isn't that bad. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Throw them away or use them as doorstops.
I would be worried about more pieces flying off myself. You can already see that another piece is coming off already.
They weren't worth much before they were damaged, now have zero value. |

well, with the lack of 924 parts here in NZ i'd prefer to be able to sell them. but i wont if they caused brake failure. more info would be handy, raceboy thanks for the comment, im looking for more like those from experience!

They'd probably be OK but even with a shortage of Porsche stuff here, I'd just sell the one drum and throw the other in for free.
Probably still get the same for one as you would for the both.

Look guys, the place where chunks had came off, isn't the braking surface, this is just somesort of cover for the backplate, and it's really fragile, though the rest of the drum isn't. i've "tested" it with a big mallet, after mine had chunks bitten. of course it's better not to use these if you've got nice'n'new ones, but this is not a threat to your life if you use them. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp
