I have an off ramp near my house that's a tight right, left, right and in the '03 Grand Am {GT wheels and tires} I can hold it without going below 85 kph. {The suggested speed is 40 kph} I can take it in the 924 at 125 kph.
Then I'll drive down the road for a good 7 or 8 seconds before seeing the next car in the mirror.
225's and 145's are great! |

I usually drive the Turbo "slow in, fast out" around town. As long as it's on boost coming out of the corner you can usually get yourself a good grin going
The fastest I've gone 'round a corner is a gentle right-handed sweeper that I took at about 160km/h I don't recommend it, I had to change my shorts.
I approached a corner with 40km/h advisory at about 130km/h once... misjudged it completely, thought I'd lost it (and me) for sure! Good thing I've got good brakes! I managed to get it down to about 80km/h into the corner. It squealed and squirmed but hung on... *phew!* _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

I've hit 170 kph in an 80 zone going into a turn that's down hill and fairly sharp. It's a quick turn, at 80 kph you're in the turn for about 3 seconds, at the 924 speed you're in it for about a second.
Like all responsible guys, I love the big rubber! |

I scout out the turns before I hit them. I make sure no gravel was dropped, or no broken pieces of pavement came up since last time. It's kind on annoying but it's safer than hitting them at full speed and then being surprised.
As for gravel, when I drive over a handful of rocks, I can count them through the wheel and seat! I'm dead serious, every crack, bump, pebble and ant, I can feel. There are some roads that I just don't drive on because they will shake the car soo badly. I have already scouted the bridges and over passes I can travel on. Those "braces" or whatever they are that go across the road, can be a big bang to the suspension so I basicly have maps in my head of how to get to certian places. Because the shortest route isn't always possible. Lucky for me I live 2 minutes from work and am surrounded by highways, to other cities with speed limits of 110 kph and some roads lead to the ocean, country and downtown.
P.S. I'm spending $40-45 a day on gas {1.05 litre} |

I took a tight off ramp and its a complete circle. I was going good till my g/f bumped me and i hit a patch of sand and it was all over. I hit the curb at about 70km/h and i was on the brakes before that I have taken that exact same corner 90kmph before np but it just wasnt my day. Shes about to get back on the road shortly _________________ Go hard or go home |

| Your g/f bumped you? A good rule for a passenger is not to touch the driver. A good rule for the driver is not to scare or risk a passenger. |

I was taking a turn onto the street that I work on a little fast, then I got too cavalier with the throttle, lost the rear end, overcorrected, and ended up in someone's yard. The person didn't care, and nothing but a little turf was hurt. Very luck of me though. _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 red and READY! |

I use to drive my NA pretty darn fast through corners. One of the last times before I sold it, I was leaving work heading out to have a few drinks with some co-workers, I made a corner so fast a cop (Damn Douglas county/lonetree sheriff in CO) went after me, I was already out the car and walking to the door of the bar when he finally arrived. He told me to get back into my car. I ended up not getting a ticket, but it wrecked my night out , as I was too pissed to have a beer. _________________ Ryan Moone

I haven't really driven fast in my 924 yet.....
I'm not sure if my spedometer is even accurate.....
as I've gone up to what shows 100mph in a 50 km/h zone but I doubt I was going that fast...
I'm also not used to the mph spedo......wish it was km/h.
a few weeks ago when it was raining I kinof lost control of the car when truning left and I wasn't even going too fast.... it kinof scared me the back felt like it wanted to spin around and I had to slow down......
I've also heard my tires "rub' against the wheel well or something when corning especially at higher speed probably something wrong with my car. _________________ 78 924 sold.

Well there's a left turn onto an on ramp at the expressway and my friend was behind me in his 72 Cutlass Supreme with the 350 Rocket in it and from the same starting point I pulled through the curve with my tires just barely sqealing right on the verge of understeer, and I tore all the way up the ramp...his ass end went out side a bit and I ended up at the top of the ramp merging about 75 feet in front of him in my little 4 cyl heh. Another example of Porsche's fine handling over V8 muscle car power in the turns. My speedo doesn't work, but he said we hit 85 or 90 entering the expressway. _________________ Mike

I haven't had a chance to really try the 924 around a good corner at speed yet I'm still trying to work all the bugs out of it before a push it.
In my brothers Dodge 3500 on the other hand I normally take corners at double the sugested speed assuming I know the corner. There is one ramp I really like between 15 S. and 95 S. on my way home I haven't quite gotten to double yet but it sure is fun. It's posted 30mph I've taken it at 55 in the truck, I have taken it around 60 in the 924 it handles it so much better I didn't know I was going that fast.
There is one corner that scares me in the truck the road has no traction at all dry if I even think about touching the throttle it starts going sideways. When it is wet I have to come to a complete stop and idle through or I do an unintended 360 DAMHIKT. _________________ 80 924
