Everything was fine on the way to work. Got in it to go to lunch, turn key, starter spins motor but it never fires.

OK, Could it be Fuel delivery? or SPark, that is the only two things I can think of. Enless of course I kicked a whire loose down near my feet when I pushed the clutch in.

I checked the cap, and olthough worn, doesen't appear to be the issue. I can not tell if there is park comming out of the coil.

Why would it run in the morning and then not start? that's what confuses me most. Why didn't it cut out when I was driving it.

Dang it, I like driving it, and it is not starting.

Right on, I am starting to think that is it, as the car now starts (after wiggeling the cables coming out og the fuse box) but the right headlamp is intermitant and the windshild wipers only work on full fast.

go figure, I will have to do some fuse/relay/electrical troubleshooting Saturday.

DME Temp Sensor II

Having fuel injection problems? Perhaps it's your DME Temp Sensor II.

DME Temp Sensor II, 924S/944/968 All (02/85-89), Each
E-606-125-00 $28.35
DME Temp Sensor Gasket, 924S/944/968 All (02/85-89), Each
J-123-101-30 $0.55

Is it this that I will need to order?

The front wheels and tires will fit all 4 wheels on a 924S. So you need 4 front wheels.

This is true for both the 16 and 17 inch Boxster and 993 front wheels.

The PO installed the chip so I'm not sure what it is. IIRC, he said it came from PP. I have another stock DME and I don't notice much of a difference when I swap them.

I'd bet a case of beer that the temp sensor cannot keep the car from starting, so I'd say no.

I'd spend the money on a spare DME relay since you need one anyhow.

If that doesn't fix it, we have plenty of other things you can check.

I carry a full set of spare relays in my 81 924, 87 924S, and in the 73 914, I carry a couple of each of the two different types of relays used. I keep the spares in a ziplock bag along with a relay chart marking what goes where and a couple of small chemical moisture absorber packs to keep them from corroding over time.

Before I started carrying them, I had a couple of failures, and since then (now that I am prepared), no failures at all. Murphy's Law holds true here.

You will find the DME Relay located with most of the rest of the relays in the car above the fuse panel.

The fuse panel is located under the dash to the left side of the steering wheel.

Part Numbers are changed from time to time, as parts are modified, improved, or superceeded.

The Porsche Part Number that I have for the DME Relay is: #944.615.227.00
