it looks better than the spy photos did, so thats encouraging..im still not really sold on the mid engine hatchback concept though... but at least their trying new things , and playing with the designs a little, so that encouraging... a step in the right direction i think. i just wish theyed beef up the arse end a bit and give it just a touch less "lithe" and a touch more "bulldog" ...

Well well welly well well...

I've been reading rave review after rave review for the new "Cayman" (usually the "S" with the ceramic brakes).

Could it be the one finally de-throne the mighty 911?!

Most articles I've read have implied that it's 99% of the 911's performance for less than 75% of the price... in fact, one article suggested it was actually quicker than a (base model) 997 'round a circuit!

Begs the question... when does the Turbo come out?

IMHO, it certainly doesn't suffer as badly in the looks department as the "Boxster" (I'm a huge fan of the Boxster by the way, just think it looks a little bland for such an awesome little car. Same thing with the previous iteration of the 911... they seem to have sharpened it up for the latest release).
The "Cayman" looks pretty damn hot to me, with that swoopy roof and bulging haunches with those slatted intakes

Actually, I doubt that Cayman (even S) would be quicker than base 997. I drove both 997 and 997 S on the track and they're definitely the fastest "normal" (not-GT3) 911's made so far, handling is really close to GT3, so's acceleration.
In a month or so, I'll get a chance to test the new Cayman, we'll see
