Well in the process of figuring out my brake light problem, I decided it would be easier to see the cut wires by taking off the dash. I also figured I can run new speaker wire easier, and do it right, replaces gauge bulbs and console bulbs. Is there anything else I should do while I'm back here? I'd hate for something to need done under this again as it was quite an adventure pulling the dash out. Thanks

I think I'd sign and date the firewall 'cause nobody's gonna be back in there for 20 more years

Haha, I would sign it, but I'm not the first to be back there apparently. MY interior actaully used to be brown but now its black . I'm a bit puzzled by this, someone took the time to mask off everything, they sprayed the dash, headliner and console...and even the carpets! I just find it odd, but oh well, I like the black better than the brown.
Are all of those ground the ones under the dash, way under the back by the firewall. Theres two little rings bolted to the body that have a dozen or so wires on it? I noticed theres a few that dont have connectors on them anymore, should i wire those back up to it?

Does the odometer work? Repair that if not.

Heh, no the odometer doesn't work, neither does the speedometer, but there's one for me in the mail from my924gtc that should be here by the end of the week . I'm going to clean up all those grounds on those rings and see if that brightens my instrument bulbs any...of course AutoZone doesn't have the ones I was looking for.

I just changed my bulbs from 1.2w to 2watt. Hope it makes a difference.
There is a deal happening with speed hut under development.
I am interested in getting a set.

Can you change the bulbs just as easily without the dash off? I want to get the dash back in and start getting things back together. Can you put the main gauge cluster surround(tach, speedo, multigauge holder) with the dash mounted? I figured out my brake light problem today, I'll post the update in the other thread.

You can pull the guage cluster and replace the bulbs fairly eaisly, but while you have it out replace the bulbs with the 2 watt units.

If you have the dash out consider repalcing the weather stripping for the ventelation ducts, and around the condensor box.

All the brown wires going to those grounds should all be connected.

I pulled my cluster with the dash in. (had to remove steering wheel and ign switch surround anyway)
Just as easy that way.

Do whatever you can to buy a heater core (even if you have to borrow money to do it!) and replace it while the dash is out. While you're at it, pull the entire heater box, and do a thorough cleaning of it inside and out. Make sure to fully test, clean and lube your heater fan.

Wire brush, emory board, or other wise clean every terminal you can get your hands on. The ones that are exposed, protect from future corrosion with dialectric grease. Fix any shoddy electrical splices done by the PO.

If you have rust-through under the battery, patch from above and below while the dash is out. I welded in a new floor and while the dash was out I was able to get at the (rough) seam from underneath much more easily than with the dash and carpets installed. I second the motion to replace the heater fan, core and all the foam that acts as seals in the ductwork. And, of course, clean the grounding crowns up above the fuse box. Also, clean the heater control sliders as best you can. Install new stereo when you reassemble everything.
