Well, the clutch in my car just went to hell for few weeks ago...
I just have to tell you about this! How much is a clutch set for theese car in usa? (I have a 944)
Well I called the porsche dealer here in Iceland, when I was on the phone talking to him and he was searching for the price... he told me to sit down before I was goint to tell me the price
The price (in us dollars) IS....
Clutch disk = $1.428,55
Pressure plate = $920,50
Throwout bearing = $380,95
TOTAL = $2730 dollars

Something is not right there. Those are not what I would consider "typical" prices. Are you sure you got the decimal point in the right place?
Something else must be influencing the quote:
1) exchange rate
2) some kind of import restrictions
3) exhorbatant freight charges
Contact any of the suppliers mentioned on this site or on rennlist. If they ship internationally, I am certain they can give you a better quote. Please check eBay as well. There are plenty of sellers that will ship internationally and clutch packages and/or components are frequently listed. |

You are going to need more parts than that to complete the clutch job. The little stuff is going to eat you up, if you don't have it shipped in at the same time as the major clutch parts.
The other stuff that you need: pilot bearing, clutch fork bearings (2)
Stuff that you might need: clutch fork (if yours is bent or worn), and the guide tube (if worn), engine rear (crankshaft) oil seal.
Recommended: clutch master cylinder, and clutch slave cylinder.
Suggestion to lowering the cost of shipping....
If you know a member of the U.S. Armed Forces, ask if he/she can have the parts shipped to him/her. The package can then go throught the USPS/U.S. Military Postal System, and you will get reduced shipping cost, and won't pay import duty/tax. |
