I have a '85 Porsche 944, early.

My clutch just went to hell I took the gearbox out and everything elso to get the clutch out of the car. The disk was alright, but not quite alright... somehow the disk managed to spin around the driveshaft breaking all the teeth of the driveshaft and now I can't use it again! And offcourse I can't use the disk again...

I have never seen this happen before and I thought this couldn't happen.

I will try to sent picture in on the web, but I there is some broblem with my picture website... (can someone help me send this picture in?)

Has this happened to someone else?

(sorry my english might not be very good )

Last time I saw this problem it was from too many holeshots. Do you have a habit of dumping the clutch at 5000 RPM's to watch the tires smoke? Other than that, not too many things will cause your problem.

I have never done anything lika that... but it I don't know what other owner have done to this car... but if something lika that has been done, something else will get damaged, not this. gearbox is more likely to fail.

I have never seen anything like this happen before...

Any possibility that they had the wrong disc in there? One that had close, but not quite the right diameter and/or number of splines?

E-mail the pic/s to me. I'll put them up.

I would bet that the clutch has been replaced before, and also possibly the the transmission.

Did the car have a rubber centered clutch disc? Usually what breaks first on a 944 with a drivetrain that has been abused is the rubber center of the original style clutch disc. They fracture, and come apart. If the car has a spring centered disc, then the clutch has definitely been replaced.

The 2nd component to fail would have been the transmission, can you tell if the car has the original transmission?

Is it possible that the PO (Previous Owner) damaged the driveline, then did just enough work to the car to get it running, and "palm it off" on an unsuspecting buyer (you)?

Yes, it is the disk with the rubber center... but the car has 115.000km on it but the disk is lika new
I was wondering if there were any other types of porsche that had the same disk, but only bigger hole where the driveshaft goes trough the disk.

The driveshaft in the car is 25mm but it seems like the disk is 26mm... but I'm not sure because this is all damaged now.

I have to get new disk and new drife shaft. Very expensive here where I live...
