Can the drivers seat be moved back a couple more inches somehow? I can barely fit in this car and turn the wheel. I feel like a big football player in this thing. Can I redrill the seat rails or something?

Are you sure that it is all the way back? They can go so far back that they almost touch the back seat.
How tall are you? I'm 6'2" and I find there is plenty of leg room.
The tracks have a tendancy to get jammed up. _________________ MJ

I'll check the seat tracks. I was going to remove the seat today, but I work nights and was too tired. I'm just under 6', but with my foot on the gas and the other on the clutch, both legs are jammed under the steering wheel. Not a good way to try and drive.

sounds like your seat rails are hanging up on something, or maybe 'seized" in place. Work the seat back and fourth a bit (check for obstructions first) , itll slide back eventually. Once it does, youll be able to access the mounting bolts, remove it, and clean and lube the tracks (i use silicone spray.) _________________ Eric

I had one that the carpet curled up in the back. The rail was hitting the lip of the carpet. Stopped just like it was all the way back, slid forward easy enough. Just assumed it was all the way back. Drove the car like that for quite a wile before I noticed. _________________ 1980 931

Pulled the seat out and cleaned the rails. Now it's much better. Found out I have a stripped out front bolt hole.

I was about to say, with the stock wheel and seats, I still fit at 6'7". I now have a smaller four spoke wheel and aftermarket sport seats that improved the fit even more.

6'7? WOW! I won't be hitting on your wife anytime soon!
As for not fitting, get a steering wheel with a smaller diameter. Stock wheels are around 14 inches and my current wheel is 11 1/2 inches. I had a wheel that was 10 1/4 but I found it a little small. And I was a football player when I bought the car, I know what you mean. I had to come up with a plan for getting out without spraining anything! Somewhat like the Lotus Elise's where you can find videos on the net on how to get in and out properly! HA! |
