|
|
I bought the additional door seals 477837233 and 477837235, thinking how to put them on would be self explaining. However,...it is not.
They are shown on 80400 on the PET.
Does anybody know how to put these on, or would care to consult the
offical workshop manual on this subject??
Thanks in advance,
sincerely Duncan |

I would think they'd be pretty self explanatory as well.... I looked in the factroy manuals, but there is nothing there about door seals. Door removal, mirrors, electric windows, window guides, lock mechanism, external handle, but not much more. Sorry... _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |

Thank CMXXXI. I think I will make a drawing of the cross section of the two pieces, maybe this will give you some idea as how to put these on.

You should have just purchased 944 or 968 door seals. They are easy to put on and do a much better job of filling in the gaps.

| Yep, the one piece door seal from a 944/968 like eric mentioned is the way to go. Those 3-piece seals are a royal pita. I think I paid about $85 for each door seal. |

Hmmm, so I checked the partnumber of my doorseal, and IT IS actually a 944 doorseal.
I was mistakenly assuming I had to combine the additional
seals with the 'new' type seal.
However, I still have a problem with the doorseal that:
1) The door doesn't close very easily. The trailing edge of the seal is rubbing with the pillar.
2) At 100+ kmph you can hear a slight whistle sound of air being sucked in.
Is it necessary to trim the seal? It seems to fit correctly.
Sincerely,
Duncan |

There is some adjustment on the latch pin on the B pillar. If you loosen the 3 bolts you can move the pin around so that the door shuts tighter. That will get rid of your wind noise. You should be able to play with the position of the pin so that the door will shut easier too.
I'm using the 944 seals and they give a great sounding "whunk" when I shut the doors. I love that sound

I will look at that. When I bought the car, there was some sticky peace of foam in the corner of the door and the little plastic corner piece was missing on the body. I removed the sticky foamy thing and replaced the corner piece.
It is easy to close the door from outside, but less easy when you are in the driving seat! |

my doors too became difficult to shut when I first replaced the seals. I was thinking I was needing to make some adjustments, but they must have softened up and the doors close just fine. Now I`m happily whunking away! |

can anybody explain to me why early 924 doors make that soft sound when closing, but later ones make a little bit of 'metallic' or sth like that kinda sound? _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp
