|
|
| Ok this if for those of you who have rebuilt your 931 engine. Is the 931 engine very difficult to rebuild. I am just wondering, because I am thinking mine is going to need to before long, its making lifter noise and some other strange noises, off and on. I am just not sure about this engine? I have built a few ford v8s and a 4 cyl eagle talon turbo. But I don’t really know too much about these engines? Anyone care to comment? What was your rebuild cost, are parts crazy just because it’s a Porsche? Thanks heath |

you can have it rebuilt for about $500 (roughly) if you do ALL the work yourself,
however before rebuild, do a compression test and a leakdown test on a warm engine,
also check/adjust the lifters as nessecary _________________ 3 928s, |

| Wow 500 that’s really cheep, I was expecting 5000 ha-ha, I just spent 1200 on my ford v8 doing all the work my self. Yes I need to do a leak down test, but I don’t have one, I need to find a good one. What are good leak down rates for these engines? Do these engines have hydraulic lifters or solid? |

These cars have solid lifters, adjustable with Allen key. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Mustang,
Here's a fairly comprehensive list of parts needed for a rebuild. Prices I paid can be found in this more inclusive list and should give you a good idea of what you are up against. I'd guess that I got %90 or more of my parts on-line or off of eBay. _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |

that is for the engine only, the turbo rebuild is not included,
I got a leakage tester where you put the cyl to TDC then it pushes air into the cyl upto 150PSI and it tells you how much is leaking and has a worn guage telling you if it is good or bad it cost me I think about $49 cdn but I could be wrong _________________ 3 928s, |
