|
|
ok I don't know much about auto mechanics but I finished taking apart the water pump an blets and cleaned the area and i'm ready to install the new parts.
anyways I noticed that one of the metal hoses ( fuel hoses?) that comes from the fuel distributer (5 diff ones) and connects to the engine (fuel injector) is basicly broken..... its badly damaged with the metall are broken like its basicly half way cut through....
if this is a fuel line then isn' t this really dangerous? and how was my engine running fine before when it was like this?
anyways after replacing my water pump and belts I'll have to drive the car to a mechanic to get this replaced....
what i'm wondering is how much will this cost?
also I got those metal fuel hose wet today while washing the engine area (water pump area) is this bad? I just covered the alternator with a plastic bag.
should I use electrical tape over this hose? until I get it to a shop? _________________ 78 924 sold.

as for the fuel line, replace before you start the car, you can get one from the dealer, no idea as to the price _________________ 3 928s, |

They're pretty inexpensive from Performance Products, like around $20 IIRC. And you don't have to buy the whole set, just the one you need. Or you could ask on the parts section if someone has one they might sell/give you. Worth a try. It's a steel braided hose so I would guess you'd want to replace that for safety's sake before driving it very much. Hate to see all your hard work go up in flames! |

If you're talking about the steel braided lines that run from the fuel head to the injectors- then you don't need to worry about it too much. The steel braiding is over a couple layers of hose before you actually puncture anything. It is worth replacing, but don't get too worried. I second D Hook's advice- post in the wanted/for sale section for one. FYI- for anyone driving an old car, it's not a bad idea to toss a fire extinguisher behind the seat...!

| That'll be your cheapest option, if someone has one they'd like to sell. Don't quote me on the Performance Products price...it's been awhile since I looked at them. I've seen them on ebay a few times, usually selling a used set for a few bucks. Sometimes you'll even find one with the fuel distributor attached! Worth the look. |
