Hmmmm.. very interesting...

Mine looks like the picture here...

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ProductDisplay/c-10101/s-10101/p-160266/mediaCode-ZX/appId-384301

The one in that thread looks like mine, but with a different t-piece (mine looks like the one in the JCWitney site), and mine has no valve.

Looks like I need to have some more fittings made up and a valve.

Interestingly the photos for the one including for CIS, and the one not for CIS on the witney site, are the same..

I think the t-piece I have is for hooking onto the fuel pump or something.

Your setup has to have the change-over valve, otherwise you will have to hook up the hoses one way and get a reading, then un-hook one of the ends and plug it, then take the other reading. I think it's real odd that the site says it is for the K-Jetronic system and doesn't have the valve in the kit. I wonder if it's just mis-labeled or if someone didn't know what they were talking about when they set up the item on the JCW site.

About an hour ago, I decided that my emissions off idle were too high.. its nice for them to richen up a bit off idle, but this was crazy, about 9% CO at 3500 rpm off load.

So I called a local guy who breaks up the odd Porsche, and he had a fuel metering head. So I brought it.

Some serious swearing later, its fitted, emissions are down to about 4% co at 3500 RPM, and a quick test drive has shown that, at least for the time being, its behaving at 4000 rpm..

So.. touch wood.. I think its cured and was the fuel metering head..

I have a ignition control unit turning up tomorow, which I will fit and run some comparisons with mine (dwell etc) to see if my multimeter was wrong or if the scope was wrong... also to see if it behaves any differently.

I will report back with my findings after another test drive tomorow..

Thanks for all your help! I think this may not be the end of this... we will see

I got that diagram scanned in. Maybe it'll still be of some use -
<click for larger pic>

The adapters used are circled in green to the left and right.
To hook up, the top-center line to the fuel dist gets unscrewed and the fitting to the left (R14I40 with o-ring) gets screwed into the fuel dist., then attached to the non-valved side of the gauge assembly as shown (tight enough, but not so tight as to damage the o-ring). The fitting at right (R14I41) attaches to the line that was removed from fuel dist top-center, then attached to the valved side of the gauge assembly exactly as shown in the diagram.
Those adapter numbers will be of no use to you, but all thread sizes are written-in in blue - all straight threads (no tapered pipe threads).
