The car was actually acquired by someone else, and didn't have any interest in it, until I found out it had a kick butt motor, It was just pure luck, I am triing some part sources to find the part numbers. SInce I have none of this stuff on my computer and all in books, it takes awhile, but eccentially, I have a parts list of just about everything VW audi made. Up to the late 80's. I know the rods and pistons can be easily sourced, but they do little good without the crank which is proving quite difficult. Nothing in the Porsche books, or Pet, I am hoping to find it in the VW books. Also wonder if anyone gots any parts info on the other vehicles that the 924 was installed in, the amc cars and the Postal rigs. Sure would be nice to find this crank sourced from another car. I have talked to a couple of machinist, and to dupicate this would just be outrageous in cost. They even suggested that it is probally sourced from another motor then balanced, BUt what???? That seems to be the big question. When I painted the block I did find some stamped numbers on it. Which once the info comes in from Paeco. I am hoping to maybe come up with more info. When I did talk to them on the phone, they did state they would sell, me the parts to build my own motor, which is nice since shipping from here to AL and back would just suck. More info in a bit, Thanks _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |
