Hey Guys!
Its good to be back! I have been a long time away and now i am back. So we have cleaned the injectors on the 924 and now it pulls really good. So, after a nice drive, with a full battery, we stop to refuel. Then we try to crank up the car but it wont start, so we had jumpstart the battery. While cranking the car, i didnt hear that clicking sound that comes from the start which i used to hear when the battery gets drained, so i think tha battery may not be the issue because this problem happens randomly, except the morning.
Now can the fuel pump be the problem in the start up? Its apparently dying! By the way, the thermostat is missing, so would an audi thermostat do the job ???
If its the fuel pump, then it should wait, because dad is willing to go back to Canada, after a month or so, and start a new buisness or get a job there, so we should sell the 924 as is, because mom wont touch the car with a 10ft pole!!!
Which reminds me, do any of you know about any Furnished appartment prefferably in the outskirts of Toronto or Ontario with an acceptable fee?
Thanx in Advance Guys!!!

in regards to the non starting, it could be that you need to redo the ground to the block from the chassis or add a new one.
in regards to the fuel pump, do a load test with it on and see how many amps it pulls, if it pulls 10 it yes needs to be replaced.
in regards to the thermostat missing, purchase one and install IMMITDIATLY, or bloc the line running between the thermostat housing and the waterpump, as there is a recirculation between the 2 for when cold to help it warm up faster. _________________ 3 928s, |

very occasionally my car will refuse to start, cranking over easily but not firing. the solution is a jumper lead between the +ve terminal on the battery and the +ve terminal on the ignition coil. once it's started it'll be fine again to re-start next time.
I remember something about a relay in the starter motor not jumping in to give the ignition enough current for a spark.
perhaps this is caught up in your situation somewhere?
if so, it's an easy fix. _________________ it's funny, but when they said "Anything is Possible", that's exactly what they meant.... |

Hate to jump in, but do you leave the jumper wire connected or only until it starts then pull it off? _________________ 79 924 NA |

| You must pull it off, you only need it while using the starter. |

From what i can see, i think there is something wrong with the battery. The current reads about 12volts, but when i crank the car, i start to hear that tick tick sound from the starter, that i usually hear when the battery is somehow drained. We usually drive the car arround after starting up the car, and it restarts great but after a couple of days, the same problme happens. I am using a 55Ah battery. Do i need a bigger battery for the 924??
I just got a used fuel pump in a great condition for a great price (15$) and ill try to install it on saturday. I think this should aid in starting the car up. Also, how much amps does the starter withdraw? I just need to know before i plug in my Amp meter and blow it up! _________________ 1977 Porsche 924

Will do! But i am afraid that its gonna take a longtime to move back to Canada. Dad is looking for a job there, and untill he finds a job there, we'll move. Anyhow, ill comeback to Canada when i turn 18. Universities are by far more better than here. Also i am a Canadian citizen, so i wont be finding much difficulties there! _________________ 1977 Porsche 924
