Garage is just about empty time to start thinking on my next projects
Now I have two different builds in mind.
Well thought is to take all my 924 performance parts, and build a 931 into a carburated screamer. Only thing I don't have for this build is that big valve head which would make this so sweet.
On the other hand, I have to dismantle my 83 944 anyways, due to a My cat catching on fire. And the car more bondo than sheet metal. I want to take the motor and tranny and running gear. And install in on a 931 or 82 n/a shell, with 944 fiberglass panels.
Now I have enough, parts for both builds, question is is which one would I do first both will require just as much work but different as both chassis will need to be stripped for lightening. _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |

After thinking this through, I have decided to take on my 924 project. Mostly this will clear out some space on all the parts I have for this build from the shelves. ANd the 944 project can sit for a few months, as I think the 924 project should take more than a month or so. I will keep everyone updated with photos and progress. I will be starting this build this weekend, so watch for a new post detailing the engine build. _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |

Yes, this car is in exceptional shape, I have stripped it out up to the wiring harness which comes out next.
List of parts for build, The Plan:
Engine: rebuilt 931 short block with new oil pump.
Pistons: Euro Pistons with the 931 rods.
Head: Stock head from 82 with P&P, Copper head gasket & Studs
Cam: Stage two Camshaft Purchased from Partwerks & Adjustable Cam Gear
Fuel System: Dual side draft carbs Delorto's Pressure regulator (do plan on running NOS)
Ignition: Euro Points Distributor with pertronix and a Jacobs Omni Pak Ignition
Exhaust: Bursch header, No cat, and a 944 muffler
Aluminum Flywheel new clutch
New motor mounts
New Hoses
And adapted aluminum radiator. Either 944 or one from a VW
Suspension. Modified 951 front struts
Bilstien heavy duty shocks out back.
250 lbs springs up front
Eurathane bushing all around
944 brake set up
Once this part is finished, I will bring the body in and strip it of all the unnessary weight. Which will be detailed at that time. Hopefully my fenders will be done by then too.
This build has to be done in a couple of months, so that the car is ready for the autocross season. Which I will be running in GTU
All the engine parts will be painted with a high heat cermic paint. It is a three stage process with the primer, then paint, then a clear, all in high heat. Once baked on it has a wonderful finish and withstands the heat very well. I have been playing with this paint for about 6 months and having good success with the parts I have done so far (valve cover, intake, pulleys, and so forth. _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |

Looks exactly like my racecar when I picked it up; Petrol Blue Metallic with what appears to be exactly the same gold stripe? _________________ Vaughan Scott

SO that is what you call that color, never been sure to call it blue or green, never seen this color on any of the other models. I kind of like it, even though I know I will end up painting it. The paint is in great shape though. But those are the most perfect fenders I have so there for I may sacrifice them so I can have some fiberglass ones
Joe Do Not Worry about it, Crap happens, and trust me, I have enough crap happen to me over thepast few months, I am completely understanding. Besides, I would prefer my business didn't filter here, Mostly, because the business is very stressful. And I would just like to talk cars. I don't think many expensive cars have simple colours.. white, black, sometimes yellow are stright forward, but from there they like exploring shades between the easily identifyable shades..
I think the last verdict on my cars colour was red/brown/purple, and that's depending on the light! _________________ it's funny, but when they said "Anything is Possible", that's exactly what they meant.... |

Thanks for the input KYE, That is the one reason, I have wanted to use this chassis for a build. The color, if the paint wasn't in such good shape, I would probally just paint it another color anyways, I am hoping to paint my 924/944 project in Red/Yellow/ and black to match the German Flag. But this one needs to get going first. _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |
