http://www.InlandImports.com Not the best website in the world. Click on the "Shop" choice on the top menu.
I sent fabric samples to him a week ago...I'll have some new custom covers by Christmas! _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |

i was thinking id try a couple of "local" auto upholstery shops and see what their getting.. i want my bolsters redone as original (leather, sport seats) but my inserts redone in cloth (all leather is alot of $$ and cloth stays cooler down here) .. the least ive seen the sport seat kits for is $350 plus, and thats all vinyl, im hoping i can get a better deal with a small local shop...well see... _________________ Eric

Thats the Rennbay kit, i have heard nothing but good reviews, and they are supposed to be pretty easy to put on.

By all means, that's what I'd recommend for the first choice. There is only one place in my town that would tackle the job, and he said that the job would be well over $300 for a pair of front seats made from vinyl with cloth inserts. Said that he'd be glad to do the work, but might cost $200 in materials, then there was making a new pattern, fitting it, and etc... His shop has a stellar reputation here in town, so maybe it would have been worth it, but I decided to go with the place in California (larger fabric selection, does Porsche seats all the time). I'll let everyone know how things turn out when I get them. _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |

I like www.worlduph.com for my interiors. They have all the fabrics and leather/vinyls for our cars in stock. They quoted me $350 for fronts and $200 for rear for my Martini seats all new in original materials.
I tried a couple locals for those same seats and was told $1000 to replace the centers with perf vinyl and 2 bolsters. Of course that was front and back but still.
Inland has good deals on ebay but I have never used them. Let me know how that goes CMXXXI. _________________ MJ

I wish I had known about/checked out World Upholstry. I may not have saved any money, but it would have given me another option... It looks as if (approx) $350 for the pair of front seats in vinyl is "the going rate" anywhere you can find them. Wow, getting the back seats redone is an expensive proposition. I mean, for that kind of money, you'd actually want to use the seats! Sorry, I'm afraid I'll have to pass on that.
I couldn't find my original fabric anywhere (charcoal/gray/white herringbone), but Inland Imports said that if I sent some fabric swatches that he'd do his best to get a good match. I sent a large piece of the original fabric, and six other samples of herringbone styles, so hopefully he'll be able to find a close match. Here in the Deep South, vinyl or leather inserts just aren't practical without A/C, you have to have fabric inserts for any measure of comfort. _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |

I see these offered on e-bay quite frequently. They usually end up going for $250-$260. I was thinking of getting a set of these to try them out. I have the hogclips and hogclip pliers available to me at work, so I may try to do this myself. Anyone else try these guys out before?
Maybe if enough people are interested, a group buy would bring the cost of these covers down? Just a thought.

The dude from Inland said he would sell them to me off ebay for $235 all day long, but that was a year or so ago when I had bid that much on an auction but was outbid.
I'd be willing to bet a group could get that or better. I want a couple sets just to rebuild the good cores that I have. I am using racing seats in my cars but you know me. _________________ MJ

FYI- you can pick up later ('85.5+) full leather 944 seats with driver's side power switches in the $300-400 range in excellent/perfect condition. I know some of you want to avoid leather, but it's a great option for anyone else. The design is vastly more comfortable than the early seats.
