"On the new race car I've made a gate like a Ferrari with an interlock so you can't get reverse and hence you get real quick changes."
COOL! i'd like to see a pic of that. i've driven a Ferrari with the gated shifter, (not sure if they all have it, but i think it was a 308 - magnum pi car). anyway, the gates were so skinny that it wasn't really so easy to make quick shifts, although you did know exactly where the shifter was going.
this is really cool.

vince do u have a snailshell on the 924.
because vaughan the snail shells have more weight in the center of the car...so that would mean to me that the 931 should handle better....

Hey all!! I have a couple of questions I hope can be answered. I have an '80 931 and a '77 924 with and extra motor that I traded for awhile back. The 931 blew the bottom end out about five years ago and I had traded for the '77 to get the engine. I race clay tracks here in NM and that had been sapping money from the engine swap until recently. My town finally built a road course and I've been watching way too much SpeedVision, so I've decided to put the 924 to Roadrace use. From what I've been reading in these posts, sounds like a good car to race. What kind of work do I need to do to the head? Can I use the 931 head with a dual weber carb set up? Where can I get headers and a strong cam? What about those heavy (820 gram plus)rods? Does anyone make a lighter rod? Anyone lightened theirs? What was the result? What about the crank? Any advice would really be appreaciated. Thanks
