i had a simalar problem with my 928 backfiring and loading up. have you checked the fuel pressure regulator? i found that out the hard way with mine spent about 2k on tracking down this pro ... |

| well my motor is only SOHC so it is a liiiitttllle smaller. plus i thought that the 924 engine bay was about 2 inches wider than the 928. i know they stuffed those motors in those cars!!! trust me man ... | |

| well the timing belt is a pain in the arse but it is do-able you need a tensioning meter though they run around 500 if my memory serves me right. but mine is an 84 so only SOHC much easier
