What the redline in these diesels? If its 4500 rpm, you'll have trouble hitting 100 mph with the stock gearing.
A not too frantic cruising speed of 70 mph @ 50 mpg is more what I've got in mind for ... |

The Quantum engine has a conventional ring gear on the flywheel for starting.
