Sorry for the noob question but I can't seem to see a concise answer. I have the 79 'Snail shell' manual transmission and everywhere I look says a different answer.

Thanks for the advise, the crank pulley and the water pump alignment was only 1-2mm out so that was fine.

Hello, first time poster here. About 2 years ago for a 21st birthday gift, i got given a non-running 1981 924 luxe auto, which I've been very slowly chipping away at.
