The European engine has a compression ratio of 9.3:1.
The 1976-1977 US engine has a compression ratio of 8.0:1 (95.4 hp)

I had the same problem until I realised that I used the wrong mark on the cam wheel (it is on the backside of the wheel!). For some reason there is also a mark on the front of my cam wheel.

| You would like to have a spark BEFORE BDP! So -3 will be 3 degrees before BDP, so before the 0 mark on the flywheel. |

I have a '87 951 and a '84 924.
The 951 is a superior car, but way more expensive to drive. The fuel consumption is enormous in comparison to the 924.
